Pisces New Moon Chart from astro-seek.com

The new Moon is occurring in the last degrees of Pisces in the bound of Mars. New Moons are always seeding point. We are planting in the ground over which both Neptune and Saturn have been loitering throughout parts of last year. This seeding point is in cultivated ground, the sods turned over and ripe for new growth.

An Aimsir / The Weather

The planetary weather of the moment is very concentrated in the signs of Pisces and Aries. This lunation takes place at the end of the astrological year just a day before the sun ingresses into Aries marking the beginning of the zodiacal year. It’s effectively New Years eve and we’re making our intentions and resolutions for the coming revolution through the ecliptic or the Sun’s path through the Zodiac.

The Moon and Sun are co present with Mars, Mercury and the North Node in Pisces. This lunation is far enough away from the nodes to not be considered an eclipse. Mercury is moving very slowly in preparation for his station direct the following day. They are just out of the intensity range of Mars yet still feeling his influence and transmuting his symbolism through Mercurial means.

Mercury is conjoining the North Node once more since conjoining for the first time this year on 12 February at 9 degrees 54 minute of Pisces. There may be a sudden sharp clarity or new information about the events of mid-February carried towards us on the North Nodal tides. Despite this, be cognisant of the likely prevailing confusion and messiness as Mercury crawls to their stationary point of 8 degrees 29 minutes of Pisces.

Mars so close to Mercury is also approaching the degree of the previous lunation, the full Moon Virgo eclipse of early March. He may be agitating this point where we see an escalation of the events of early March. Mars is approaching a trine with an exalted Jupiter in Cancer. Both planets are effectively submerged and so the strength of their energy may speak to warrior type action or charged energy on or under the sea. A bursting forth of the amphibious or an athletic agility through water.

Fliuch báite / Soaked

Mars usually hot and dry cools off somewhat in Pisces but being in his triplicity rulership grants him some charge. He is beginning to charge an exalted Jupiter in Cancer – keep an eye out for examples of hubris and potential retribution perhaps a soggy Icarus like image crashing to the seas below.

Jupiter has now been direct since 11 March and so regains his strength in his exalted place. The place of Cancer in your chart will feel his bounty once more and things may begin to proceed in an increasingly straight forward fashion. If you can, check out the house significations of Cancer in your chart. Jupiter will be throwing his vast weight around this place and granting benevolence here until end June.

Be aware this exalted Jupiter will continue to be changeable being ruled by the changing face of the Moon. There is beautiful reception here with the Moon in Pisces. Not only that he is receiving testimony from a weakened Venus in Aries. Venus Jupiter aspects can indicate the potential for excess however Venus in Aries is not typically Venusian. She may challenge Jupiter somewhat, be less compliant, less saccharine, more direct.

Síolta a chur / Sowing Seeds

This feels very much a new Moon of intentional new action. She is sextile Uranus in Taurus so you might surprise yourself with startling new intention. Clarity may come in the midst of chaotic confusion. There is the potential for rash action here. Take a pause before uttering the ultimatum, the final edict or cutting word. It might come back to bite you when Mercury moves direct and the landscape changes. The declaration may feel silly or embarrassing in hindsight. Equally you may feel a flash of inspiration a breath of new air that materialises quickly into something unexpected.

Shortly after this lunation the Moon followed by the Sun enter Aries and meet Neptune. This lunation is a good time to plant the intentions for actions you wish to take over the next year but particularly over the coming 3 months. With Neptune here is it a time to dream big! The confines of Saturn are separating from Neptune towards a sextile with Pluto and into the jaws of power. This time of new beginning might be a mash up of confusion, perceived clarity, flashes of new purpose and burning desire to move forwards in leaps and bounds. If you can, meditate on your intentions before making your moves.

The Pisces parts of our charts have undergone much change from Neptune, Saturn and now the faster moving wanderers. The shifts into Aries followed by the bigger ingress of Uranus into Gemini later in the Spring will deliver ever more change and upheaval in a different area of our lives. I hope the Mercury retrograde of early 2026 allowed you contemplation of this place in your chart, this part of your life. This may sound dramatic but reminds me of the oft quoted refrain of WB Yeats in his poem Easter 1916. An apt lyrical Mercurial expression of the astrology of this moment;

“All changed, changed utterly:

A terrible beauty is born.”

The poem itself though written about the events of Easter 1916 in Ireland feel contemporaneous. You can read it yourself on Poetry Ireland.
